YOU GUYS! Listen up! My friend Jen @ironwood.pages is publishing her very first poetry book called “The Sky Threw Stars” and you need to get it as soon as it came out. You may ask WHY? Yayayaya, I will explain it to you 🙂
I haven’t read a lot of poetry books. However, from all of the poetry books that I’ve read. I felt like poetry that is focus on love is not my cup of tea. Maybe because it was not really relatable for me, or there is some missing links that made me hard to connect with it. Since then, I made up my mind that no romance for me.
Until I read this book.
sitting on that bench
my heart fell
i got your text
i was waiting for someone
who was never going to come
when i thought
of the worst case scenario
i did not even consider
wouldn’t show up
Her poetry is about life, love, and heartbreak. But what makes it special is the way she wrote it.
It feels so real and raw, that I am sure Jen was there in every fall in love and heartbreak moment that I have experienced. However, it did not stop on the heartbreak, she also talk about the struggle of moving on from those heartbreaks, that I can wholeheartedly relate in every way. When we face heartbreaks, those who are not in that season would easily say “MOVE ON! There is a lot of fish in the sea” or “He is not worth it, He don’t deserve you”. But, for us who experienced it, we understood how hard it is for us even to wake up. It’s like our mind and heart are trapped in the middle of something mad. We felt lost. Sometimes we can be strong, sometimes, we can’t. All we need to do is to keep fighting and let the time heals everything. Jen pictured all of this feeling it perfectly.
it is still
to find worth in myself
but i’m beginning
to see stars
from my scars
my body is a constellation
Oh and the illustration that accompanied each and every poem will make you drawn even more to the poems.
UGHH. It is just soooo good and so beautiful.
Overall, reading this book make me want to punch each and every guy that breaks Jen’s heart.
But, after all. This is the journey of love. We fall, we break apart, and we heal, until we found the RIGHT person to spend the rest of our life with. All of the heartbreaks will help us to understand what true love feels like.
Thank you for writing this Jen, and thank you for trusting me to do the review.
Wishing you all a wonderful day!
